NGC 752 (Caldwell 28) is a large, loose open star cluster located about 1,300 to 1,500 light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.

Type: Open star cluster

Constellation: Andromeda

Apparent Magnitude: 5.7

Age: Approximately 1.1 to 2 billion years (making it one of the oldest visible open clusters in the Milky Way)

Discovery: Discovered by Caroline Herschel on September 29, 1783 (and likely earlier by Giovanni Battista Hodierna before 1654)

Visibility: Visible to the naked eye under very dark skies as a faint, fuzzy patch.

Best Equipment: Best viewed using binoculars or a wide-field telescope at low magnification because the cluster spans a wide area across the sky (larger than the full Moon).

Location: Found about 5 degrees south and slightly west of the bright double star Almach (γ Andromedae).

Best Time to View: Autumn and winter months from the northern hemisphere.

You can read more detailed technical data about this cluster on the SEDS NGC 752 Catalog or view live sky coordinates and tracking info on TheSkyLive.
